"Trade Federation ships coming into range!"Lego continue their releases from The Clone Wars movie with this brilliant reproduction of the Republic V-19 Torrent Starfighter. The kit is a nicely detailed and faithful representation of the ship and is actually better than the official V-19 from Hasbro in its construction and design.
The cockpit canopy slides along the front and hinges up to allow pilot access. Each wing has a holder for a flick missile which can be launched by pushing the bar at the back of the wing.
The best feature of the ship, one that is sadly lacking from the Hasbro version, is the mechanism that works the wings and landing gear. Under the aft of the tail fin there is a lever which slides across. When you move this it allows the tail fin to rotate from the top, around the hull and underneath to act as the ventral stabiliser fin.
As the fin moves round the two landing legs automatically fold up against the hull and the port and starboard wings fold from a vertical to lower angled position.
The use of technic gears and pneumatic cylinders (without the air system) is very well done to create the mechanism.
The kit also comes with a brand new figure, a Clone Pilot. He is armed with a black heavy assault rifle.
The kit comprises 459 pieces (not including the pilot, rifle and four flick missiles), is 23 cm long, 24 cm high and has a great wingspan of 55 cm. There are three decals to apply and it's ready for combat.
A very impressive craft and a must for any Star Wars fighter collection.

Synopsis

As the adventure begins, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), an impulsive but goodhearted young man who lives on the dusty planet of Tatooine with his aunt and uncle, longs for the exciting life of a Rebel soldier.
The Rebels, led by the headstrong Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), are fighting against the evil Empire, which has set about destroying planets inhabited by innocent citizens with the Death Star, a fearsome planet-like craft commanded by Grand Moff Tarkin (Peter Cushing) and the eternally frightful Darth Vader (David Prowse, with the voice of James Earl Jones).

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK is considered the most morally and emotionally complex of this original trilogy and continues where Lucas's epic saga STAR WARS - A NEW HOPE left off. Well it's taken long enough but for all of those waiting to see the version of the Star Wars trilogy that they remember from the cinema, before Mr. Lucas decided to make an extra buck or two by 'improving' them, the wait is over.Contrary to the statement made by another reviewer these are the original theatrical releases (two of the three scenes he says are now 'missing' were cut before Star Wars was ever released and although stills do exist of those scenes they were never part of the film as seen at cinemas.
The third he mentions is still there, though he is remembering it incorrectly.) Don't expect 5.1 Dolby, cleaned negatives or anything other than the films as they were thirty years ago (and yes, it looks like 30 year old film stock), and that's exactly as it should be.
If you want the cleaned, enhanced, 'special' editions they are here as well but for me they just serve as a reminder of why George should have left the originals alone.
